Sula Vineyards is a winery and vineyard situated in the Nashik region of western India, 180 km northeast of Mumbai. Sula Red Wine was originated by Rajeev Samant, in 1999. Today, Sula Red Wine has developed to be India’s widest and most appreciated wine brand. Sula launched grape variants such as Chenin blanc, Sauvignon blanc, Riesling, and Zinfandel in India and is the primary performer in the Indian wine industry today.

Rajeev Samant is an alumnus of Stanford University, after his graduation, he worked at Oracle in California. He quit his Multinational corporate job, returned to his nation, and founded Sula Red Wine.

Mr. Rajeev Samant named Sula after his mother’s name Sulabha. He worked hard to establish the company in a few years by launching various grape varieties and spreading the company’s production. Nashik is now often mentioned as India’s Napa Valley because of its wine production.

Sula Red Wine Alcohol Percentage

ABV is the Alcohol By Volume, the global standard measurement for alcohol content. Red wines tend to have more alcohol than white wines, because of stylistic choices than intrinsic differences in the grape’s alcohol potential. Red wines contain tannin, a bitter flavor that is balanced by acidity, sugar, and alcohol to make a harmonious wine. That is the reason, the structure of red wines supports higher alcohol content while still tasting balanced.

• Sula Brut – matured for 2–4 months. It contains an ABV of 12%.
• Sula Brut Tropicale – It is bottle-aged for 18 months and contains an ABV of 12%.
• Sula Sparkling Shiraz – Sula Sparkling Shiraz is India’s first and only sparkling shiraz wine. Matured for 4–5 months in oak barrels, this wine contains an ABV of 13.5%.
• Sula Zinfandel Rosé – India’s first ever Zinfandel, this wine contains an ABV of 11.5%.

• Sula Seco Rosé – This medium-dry rosé sparkling wine contains an ABV of 10.5%.

• Sula Satori Tempranillo – “Satori” is a Zen term meaning “unexpected insight”. This red wine variant is a middle-bodied blend of Tempranillo, Malbec, and Merlot. It contains an ABV of 13%.

• Sula Vineyards was the initial  startup to set up a winery in Nashik in 1999. The firm has been operating in Nashik acquiring a powerful name  of becoming the ‘Wine Capital of India.’
