The term artificial intelligence was first referred to in the year 1950 by John McCarthy at the Dartmouth conference. He stated that” Artificial intelligence as a science and engineering of making intelligent machines.” Thus, AI is an advanced technique that if implemented can let machines work and execute tasks just like a human. Several applications are not even perceived as AI yet such applications are continuously our life easier. Before digging deep let’s clear a very common misconception, and that is, people often tend to think that artificial intelligence and machine learning, and deep learning are the same since they have common applications. for example, Siri is an application of AI machine learning and deep learning technologies. Artificial intelligence is the science of getting machines to mimic the behavior of humans. Machine learning is a subset of AI that focuses on getting machines to make decisions by feeding them data. On the other hand, deep learning is a subset of machine learning that uses the concept of neural networks complex problems. AI is based on Mathematics, Statistics, Programming languages and Analytical skills. That’s why it is advised to have knowledge in these field before joining in any AI training.

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning are inevitable connected to each other. Basically, Machine learning and Deep learning are two advanced techniques that imparts AI with special abilities through the use of statistical models and artificial neural networks.  It includes the fields of natural language processing, object detection, computer vision, robotics, expert systems, and so on.

The three stages of Artificial Intelligence are:  The artificial narrow intelligence, artificial general intelligence and artificial super intelligence.

Artificial narrow intelligence also referred to as ‘weak AI’ is used only for a specific taks. Google Assistant is a very sophisticated example of Artificial narrow intelligence. It has limited functionality and does not possess any unique intelligent abilities as it is limited to a predetermined area.

What is Artificial General Intelligence?

Artificial general intelligence that is called strong AI has a strong processing unit that helps it to perform high level functions and compute complex calculations. Although Artificial General Intelligence is much theoretical and many doubt whether we can ever make it practical yet we are continuously advancing to that stage!

Artificial superintelligence is when AI will actually surpass human intelligence. Artificial super intelligence is currently purely theoretical and hypothetical and can only be found in the realm of movies and fantasy fiction.  However tech masterminds like Elon musk believes that artificial super intelligence take over the world by the year 2040.

Now let’s take a look at how AI is used in the real world. From spotting and eight-planet solar system which is 2500 light years away to composing songs and poems, the applications of AI have covered all possible domains in the market.

Artificial Intelligence has also gained prominence in areas like governance!

Integration of AI systems with E-governance architecture helps is digital assistance. Digital platforms launched by the government should have an assistant which can provide support to citizens 24/7. In this case AI chatbots can work wonders and has proved to be more efficient than even human experts.

  • Maintaining public property
  • Law enforcement and security
  • Automation of routine tasks
  • Making economic roadmaps and other important policies

A good example of AI in action is Google’s AI eye doctor. It is capable of the diagnosis of complex medical problems like diabetic retinopathy by scanning retina of a patient . Coming to social media platforms like In social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram AI is often use to suggest you friends, tag them and also detect location.  Twitter uses advanced AI to detect hate speech and this has been successfully used to ban hate-mongering accounts in thousands. Predicting engine of Google is another prime example of advanced Artificial Intelligence. When you begin typing a search term and Google makes recommendations for you to choose from, that is AI in action. Tesla uses advanced AI to build cars which can drive without human intervention and so far it has been highly successful. The field of AI is huge and covers machine learning, deep learning, neural networks etc.

As a result of its immense popularity, AI has also been successful in creating numerous job opportunities. A proper AI training is required for the applicants would like to go for this field. AI trainings include Python, Machine Learning techniques, including data reprocessing, regression, clustering, and Deep Learning methodologies and its applications using TensorFlow.
