The wedding is almost around the corner and our lovely brides-to-be leave no stone unturned to look their best for the d-day. Girls, before you delve deeper into your bridal makeup regime, begin with the basics i.e, skincare. Though pampering your skin is nothing new neither special, we all should take care of our skin not only prior to the wedding. Thus, here are some basic skincare tips that every girl needs to follow.

  1. Know your skin type

Knowing your skin type is the best you can do for your skin. Wrong information regarding your skin type is likely to hamper your skin’s natural balance and lead to irritation, breakouts, and even premature aging. The common skin types are oily, acne-prone, sensitive, dry, and mature skin. Also, remember your skin type can be a compound one i.e, a blend of more than one type and it can very well change over time.

  1. Forgetting patch test is a big NO-NO

Before you use a new product, always do a patch test to avoid the risk of allergic reactions or irritation. Apply a small amount of product on your inner arm to check how your skin reacts to the formulae.

  1. Know the layering

Whenever you apply skincare products, make sure you do so in the correct order, failing they would not be fully absorbed and won’t be as effective. Start by applying the lightweight formulae first and give them at least a few minutes’ time to get absorbed before moving on to heavier creams.

  1. Don’t hang onto expired products

Girl, we know how much you love your beauty products but sadly your beauty products harbor bacteria if you use them frequently and these undoubtedly will lead to infections and irritations. After a while, these products can produce harmful toxins and can be dangerous for your skin. So, get rid of your beauty products which have crossed or are near the expiry date.

  1. Avoid applying too much product

Applying too much product on your skin is not a good idea. Too much moisturizer will likely pill pr block your pores. Also, it is a total waste of your product and money as clearly your skin will not be able to absorb it all. So make sure you follow a sizing guide properly.

  1. Skin purging is normal

Often, using a new product may lead to your skin purging out. There can be many reasons behind a skin purging- water imbalance, cell imbalance, imbalance of elements within the skin. This does not mean the product is causing damage to you, rather it is just a reaction against the product.

  1. Sunscreen is everything

All dermatologists have this thing to say, there is nothing compared to the importance of sunscreen to protect our skin from damage. 90% of your skin aging is due to skin exposure. It is wise to use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or above even on cloudy or winter days.

  1. Switch your skincare regime

Along with other factors, the weather is an external factor that has adverse effects on your skin. In the winter months, the switch between low and increased indoor heating can dry out your skin. While in the summer months,  humidity, sun exposure, and rising temperatures cause oiliness and skin damage. Keep in mind to switch your skincare regime with the weather.

  1. Eat & drink with your skin in mind

No point in using miracle products if you have a disbalanced diet. Your skin won’t be able to bring its game up. To get that glow, supply your body with beauty-boosting vitamins, minerals, and the correct nutrients.

  1. Exfoliation

An essential step for any skincare regime. There are two types of exfoliators- physical and chemical. We recommend chemical exfoliators as physical exfoliators would be harsh on the skin increasing the risk of damage. Chemical exfoliators penetrate your skin getting rid of dead skin cells resulting in clear and radiant skin. Use a chemical exfoliator twice or thrice a week only.
